The foundation stone of our hotel was laid in the mid-1930s. At that time, Mrs. Elise Hoche spent her annual summer holidays in the Seefeld Olympic region. When the Berlin Wall was built in 1961, Elise wanted to establish a second base in Austria for security reasons. They bought the property on which our hotel now stands. She opened the Pension Charlotte with her son and daughter-in-law Charlotte Hoche for the 1963/64 winter season (Winter Olympics). During the construction period, Christa Hoche (Charlotte's daughter, the current senior manager) met Wilhelm Köstinger, a former Nordic combined athlete. In the years that followed, through their tireless hard work, they created the Hotel Charlotte almost as you know it today. Their daughter Carola Marthe has taken over management since 2006.
When the Magdeburg Zoo closed in 1989, we got our first New World camels - 3 guanacos. In the years that followed, we expanded our small herd. Then we also started to go on longer and shorter hikes and walks with our four-legged friends and guests. Today our herd consists of 10 llamas and 3 alpacas. We have started to organize excursions with our animals and guests again in order to rekindle the connection with nature and the animals.
In order not to let the old be forgotten, we bought a 300-year-old farmhouse from the Zillertal in 1994 and built it in the original wooden frame construction in 1996 on the Geigenbühel. We also added a smokehouse and a bread oven, which are still in use today. Our guests get homemade bacon for breakfast every day.
